Airport News

The new international terminal opened in September 2006 and cost €150m to build. The old international terminal is currently being renovated and will be serving as the airport's new domestic terminal from March 2007. The old domestic terminal will be abandoned. The new international terminal is not an extension. It is completely separate from the old terminal building. Another development is that Izmir Metro trains are expected to connect the airport with the city in 2008.

Transfer Between Terminals

There is a pedestrian walkway between the new international terminal and the new domestic terminal that can be used once the latter opens in March 2007. Of this passage, 400m (1,312ft) are moving walkways

Driving Directions

Finding the city from the airport or vice versa is easy. From the city, head south on the E-87 and follow signs to the airport. From the airport, take the E-87 towards the north and follow signs to the city centre. The main road is called Akcay Road.

Car Parking

There are over 2,300 parking spaces at the multistorey car park of the new terminal. The car park is just in front of the terminal and short- and long-term parking lots are available. Monthly membership cards are available.

Information and Help Desks

There are two information desks available within the international terminal, one in the departures check-in hall and the other in the arrivals hall. There is also a tourist information desk in the arrivals hall (tel: 232 274 2214).

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: An ATM is available on the arrivals floor, while bureau de change services are available both on the arrivals and departures floors. There is also a post office on the arrivals floor. Eating and drinking: A restaurant is located on the mezzanine floor in the international departures hall. Burger King has two outlets at the airport, one on the mezzanine floor in the international departures hall and the other in the food court area past the passport control point. A café offers beverages, pastries, and sandwiches at the departure level of the international terminal, while another offers over 90 different varieties of coffees and cakes both at the international departures level and the international arrival level. A bar serves light snacks, salads and a rich choice of beverages. In addition, there are also several smaller kiosks selling beverages, aperitifs, snacks and sandwiches near the gates. Snacks, alcoholic drinks and beverages, fresh fruits and sandwiches, are also offered in the Millennium Lounge for first and business class travellers. Shopping: There are plenty of shops at the airport, including several duty-free shops, fashion shops, a shop selling a variety of luxury items, a grocer, a jeweller, a souvenir shop and a florist. Luggage: The lost and found office (tel: 232 274 6464, ext. 4382) is located on the arrivals floor. Other facilities: A hairdresser (tel: 232 274 6441) for both men and women operates at the airport.

Conference and Business Facilities

Fax, Internet and phones can be accessed by first class and business class travellers in the Millennium Lounge. There is one meeting room and one press room on the mezzanine floor where Burger King is located. The capacity of the meeting room is 45 people in theatre, 30 in u-shape seating styles.

Facilities for Disabled Travellers

There are 22 toilets for disabled people, located both on the arrivals and departures floors. The lifts are   convenient for wheelchair users, and specific parking areas are available for the disabled
